When one of you reaches, the other pulls away.

When the Same Reactions Keep Coming Back
You may recognize this cycle: the more one of you moves closer, the more the other pulls away. The more one raises their voice, the more the other goes quiet. You’ve both tried to do things differently, and somehow you still end up back in the same place.
Sometimes what makes you react so strongly isn’t only what the other person just did. It’s also what you fear it means — that they might leave, attack you, try to control you, or shut you out. And often, the reaction is shaped as much by what you fear is happening as by what the other person actually did.

How I Work With You
My main framework is NARM, with Honest Sharing as a complementary practice. We pay attention to what is happening in the present moment — in your thoughts, emotions, body, and in what is happening between you.
Slowing Down What’s Happening
Slowing down helps us look at what’s happening in the moment — what feels sensitive, what’s hard to say or receive, and when fear starts to take up more space. From there, you can begin to tell apart what you feel, what you fear, and what you believe is happening for the other person.
Coming Back to What You Want
What do you want for yourself? What do you want for the relationship? And is the way you are reacting right now bringing you closer to that, or further away? You may also discover that you don’t want exactly the same thing.
Finding More Choice
When what is happening can be named more directly between you, it may become possible to rely less on withdrawal, blame, trying to convince the other person, or needing to be understood at all costs. What once felt too risky to show may begin to have a place in the relationship.
What a Session Looks Like
75 minutes · CA$175 · Online
Naturopathy/naturotherapy receipts are available. Coverage depends on your insurance plan.
Depending on what is happening, I may sometimes spend a little more time with one person’s experience while the other listens, and at other times support a more direct exchange between you. The work stays focused on what is happening in your relationship and in each person’s present-moment experience.
A limited number of reduced-fee spots are available. If cost is a barrier, you can simply bring it up during our first conversation.
Availability
Sessions for couples are offered during the day, with availability varying depending on the day. If finding a time that works for both of you is difficult, you can simply mention it during the connection call.
What May Become Possible
saying something you’ve been holding back for a long time
discovering that your partner may not respond the way you expect
staying connected even when you disagree
feeling freer to be yourself in the relationship
hearing a boundary without automatically experiencing it as rejection
Could This Be a Good Fit?
This work may be helpful if:
the same conflicts keep coming back despite your efforts
you feel more distant from each other
conversations become tense or defensive quickly, or one of you tends to shut down
trust has been shaken by a betrayal, a lie, or something else that hurt the relationship
closeness or intimacy has become more difficult
one or both of you finds it hard to clearly say what you want, don’t want, or need
you want to deepen a relationship that matters to you, even if you’re not in crisis
